Workday and special opportunity: Saturday June 25

19 Jun

As we approach the middle of June, really exciting things start happening at Rainbow Beach Dunes– lots of flowers! (which of course also means lots of pollinators!)

On Saturday June 25 we have TWO events at Rainbow Beach Dunes:

1) First, is our regular monthly workday, though the *time has changed*: from 2-4 pm we will be dispersing native seeds in one section of the natural area. By this time of the year, we may also see evidence of the seeds that were sown in January, and flowers on plants (nee seedlings) that we planted last year!

2) Additionally, for those who can make an all day commitment, there is an exciting opportunity to work with the Alliance for the Great Lakes. The Alliance is testing out a citizen science monitoring program for coastal habitat around Lake Michigan, and Rainbow Beach is the pilot site for Illinois! Detailed information is in the attachment, but the salient info is: 9am- 4pm on Saturday 6/25 at RBD; no cost to you except the gift of your hard work; lunch, equipment, and training will be provided; space is limited and if you have not already, you must RSVP (with the information requested in the attached flyer) by this Wednesday, June 22.
